In 1981, Jones received a special commission to be Canada’s War Artist depicting activities on board a destroyer on manoeuvres on the Pacific Ocean.
In 1985, a major art exhibition commemorating the 75th Anniversary of the Royal Canadian Navy toured North America and Jones’ works were displayed alongside works by Arthur Lismer, Alex Coleville and William Ogilvy.
In Canada, he has shown at the Winnipeg Art Gallery, Calgary’s Glenbow Museum, the National Museum of Nature and the British Columbia Provincial Museum.
